Oleksandr Yuriyovych Pielieshenko was a distinguished Ukrainian weightlifter born on January 7, 1994. Tragically, Oleksandr's life took a heroic turn when he joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the onset of the Russian invasion in February 2022. Oleksandr was the first Olympian to be killed in the Russo-Ukrainian War, remembered for his dedication to both his sport and his country.
