Lasha Talakhadze

Lasha Talakhadze, born on October 2, 1993, in Sachkhere, Georgia, is widely regarded as one of the greatest weightlifters of all time. Competing in the super heavyweight division (+109 kg), Talakhadze has set numerous world records and achieved remarkable success on the international stage.

Talakhadze made his Olympic debut at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where he won gold in the +105 kg category with a total lift of 473 kg, breaking the world record. He continued his dominance at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, setting three world records with lifts of 223 kg in the snatch, 265 kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 488 kg, securing another gold medal.

His achievements extend beyond the Olympics. Talakhadze has won multiple World and European Championships, consistently breaking his own records. In 2021, he set new world records at the World Championships with lifts of 225 kg in the snatch, 267 kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 492 kg.

Despite facing a two-year suspension early in his career for doping, Talakhadze has maintained his status as the strongest weightlifter in the world, holding the longest reign in the super heavyweight division's history.
