Boady Santavy

Boady Robert Santavy, born on May 22, 1997, in Sarnia, Ontario, is a prominent Canadian weightlifter who has made significant strides in his career. Coming from a family with a rich weightlifting heritage, Santavy has followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, Bob, who competed in the 1968 and 1976 Olympics, and his father, Dalas, who competed in international events, including the World Championships.

Boady made his international debut at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, where he finished sixth in the 85 kg category. He later moved to the 94 kg and 96 kg weight categories, achieving notable success. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, he won a silver medal in the 94 kg category, setting a Commonwealth Games record in the snatch with a lift of 168 kg. He continued to excel, winning a silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Games in the 96 kg category and finishing sixth at the 2019 IWF World Championships.

At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Santavy narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in the 96 kg category, the best finish by a male Canadian weightlifter since 1984.

His qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics was confirmed as part of Team Canada’s roster, demonstrating his sustained performance and commitment to the sport.
